Subscribers

Subscribers lists the people who signed up for the newsletter through the website’s sign-up forms. JORD’s own newsletters use this list when they are sent to all subscribers.

How people join the list

Visitors join through a newsletter sign-up form on the public website:

The form asks for a name, an email address, and acceptance of the privacy policy. All three are required, and the form is protected by reCAPTCHA. Each sign-up is stored with the language of the page where the visitor signed up.

If the Mailchimp plugin is also on, sign-ups go to the Mailchimp audience instead of this list.

Subscribers are added only through these sign-up forms. This screen is for reviewing and removing them.

Read the list

The list shows each subscriber’s Email, Name, and Subscribed date.

Only subscribers for the current content language are shown. To see sign-ups made on another language version of the website, switch the admin’s content language.

If the list is empty, it shows You have no subscribers yet!

Remove a subscriber

Remove someone who asks to stop receiving newsletters, or a test address you no longer need.

  1. Find the subscriber’s row. Check the email address.
  2. Select the bin icon, Delete.
  3. Confirm in the Confirm deletion dialog. It warns that the action cannot be undone.

A newsletter sent to all subscribers goes to every address in the list for that language.

Test the sign-up

  1. Open a public page with a sign-up form.
  2. Sign up with a test address you control.
  3. Reload Subscribers in the admin, in the same content language as the page.
  4. Check that the test address appears.
  5. Delete the test entry if it should not receive real newsletters.

If the address does not appear, check whether the Mailchimp plugin is on, and whether you are viewing the right content language.

Check your work

  • Sign-ups from the public form appear in the expected language.
  • Test addresses are removed before a real newsletter is sent.
  • Requests to stop receiving newsletters have been handled.
