References
Use references for past work, clients, or results that the website presents as reusable items.
For example, create a reference for a completed venue renovation. Its short description and image can appear in a portfolio collection. A longer case study is optional. This screen is different from the Reference block, which selects links to existing content of several types.
Available when the References feature is enabled.

Find a reference
Filter the list with Filter by title, State, or Category. The list shows each reference’s state, title, Categories, and Updated date. Select a title to edit it.
Create a reference
- Select Add reference.
- Enter the Display name and Order. Both are required.
- Choose Category tags and add any General tags.
- Write the Description and choose an Image.
- Select Save.
The display name is the public name of the project or client. The order is a number. Lists and automatic collections sorted By order field use it; it does not move the item in a manually arranged collection. Categories help group projects, while free tags provide additional labels. Write a description explaining what work was done.
Add a detail page
Tick Has its own page when the reference needs its own public page. The page’s URL, the Content area with Show table of contents, and the SEO and sharing fields then appear.
Leave Has its own page off for a reference used only in cards or collections.
JORD creates the reference’s URL from the display name when you first save it. The URL then stays the same, so choose the display name carefully before the first save.
For a case study, add headings such as “The brief” and “The completed work”, followed by text and approved images in the Block editor.
Save and publish
The footer has Save, and Publish or Unpublish. Delete appears after the first save. Publish also saves the current values. References have no Schedule or Preview. You can also delete a reference from the list.
Check that client names, logos, results, and images are approved for public use.
Show the reference on the website
Add it to a supported collection on the relevant page, or check that it matches that page’s listing rules. A new reference does not automatically add a navigation link.
Open the public card and test its destination. If a manually selected reference is in the wrong place, reorder it in that collection. If it is missing from an automatic listing, check publication, language, categories, and the listing filter.
- The display name, description, and image are approved.
- The order value fits the other references.
- The reference is published and appears where expected.
