Newsletters

Newsletters is where you write a newsletter in JORD and send it by email, either to everyone on the Subscribers list or to addresses you pick.

Note

Available when JORD newsletter is enabled, for Super admins and accounts with the newsletter-manager role. See Features and Newsletter access.

Admin path: Website > Newsletters
Routes: /newsletters and /newsletter/{id}

Before you start

  • Sender: emails are sent from the Sender email and Sender name in Advanced settings. Ask the administrator to confirm them.
  • Recipients: sending to all subscribers uses JORD’s own Subscribers list. It does not send to a Mailchimp audience.
  • Language: a newsletter belongs to the content language selected in the admin when you create it. That language decides which subscribers receive it. Switch the admin to the right language first.
  • Layout: the email starts with the line “Website title - newsletter title”, using the website title from Appearance. It ends with a footer that tells readers they received the email because they subscribed on the website, followed by Privacy policy and Unsubscribe links.

Find a newsletter

The list shows each newsletter’s state, Title, and Updated date, for the current content language. Select a title to open it.

The state marker shows a draft, a clock while JORD is preparing a published newsletter’s emails, and a check mark once they have been prepared for sending.

To create one, select Add newsletter.

Write a newsletter

  1. Select Add newsletter.
  2. Enter the Title. It becomes the email subject.
  3. Choose the Type. See Choose the recipients.
  4. Build the message in the Content box with blocks.
  5. Select Save.

Use the Heading, Text, Image, Attachment, Button, and Reference blocks. Embeds, galleries, details, maps, subscribe forms, and page breaks are not available in newsletters.

Keep the message short and check every link and image. A Reference block shows linked content, such as articles, as cards in the email.

Choose the recipients

TypeWho receives it
Automatic (all subscribers)Everyone on the Subscribers list in the newsletter’s language, as the list stands when JORD prepares the emails. This is the default.
ManualOnly the addresses in the newsletter’s recipient list.

For a manual newsletter, a recipient list appears below Type:

  1. Select Add manual recipient and enter the Email and Name.
  2. Or select Add subscriber to pick someone from the Subscribers list in the Select subscriber dialog. This button appears only when Local newsletter is enabled.
  3. Use the arrows to reorder entries and the delete control to remove one.

Send a test

Send a manual newsletter to yourself before sending to everyone.

  1. Create the newsletter with the Manual type and add only your own address and a colleague’s.
  2. Select Publish.
  3. Check the received email: subject, images, links, buttons, and the footer.
  4. Open the test newsletter and select Copy. See Copy a newsletter.
  5. In the copy, change Type to Automatic (all subscribers), correct anything you found, and save.

Send the newsletter

  1. Open the saved draft and check the title, type, recipients, and content.
  2. Select Publish.
⚠️
Warning

Publish sends the newsletter right away. JORD prepares the emails automatically, usually within a few minutes. After publishing, the title, type, recipients, and content are locked.

After publishing, the newsletter shows the clock marker until the emails are prepared, then the check mark. Ask the newsletter administrator to confirm delivery if you need sending details.

Copy a newsletter

A published newsletter cannot be edited. To reuse it, open it and select Copy. JORD opens an unsaved draft with the same title, type, recipients, and content, and shows Copy successful.

Change what you need, then select Save. If you leave without saving, the copy is lost.

Delete a newsletter

Drafts show a Delete button at the bottom of the screen, and the list has a bin icon on each row. Both ask for confirmation in a Confirm deletion dialog.

Only Super admins can delete newsletters. Deleting a published newsletter does not recall emails that were already sent.

Check your work

  • The newsletter is in the intended content language.
  • The test email arrived and every link works.
  • Test addresses are removed from the Subscribers list before an automatic send.
  • The type is Automatic (all subscribers) only when everyone on the list should receive it.
