Pages

Use pages for stable public routes such as the home page, an about page, or a content listing.

For example, use a page for “About us” and an article for a dated news story. A page can contain its own text or display other records, such as services. You do not need to copy each service’s description into the page.

Admin path: Content > Pages
Routes: /pages and /page/{id}

Find or create a page

Filter the list with Filter by title, State, or Type. The list shows each page’s state, title, type, and Updated date. Select a title to edit the page, or select Add page.

Note

The home page appears as Home page. It and other system pages are protected: they have no Delete or Unpublish action, and the home page has no Title field.

Complete the base fields

The Base data area holds the page’s main settings.

  1. Enter the Title. It is required, except on the home page, which has no title field.
  2. Set the URL slug, or leave it empty.
  3. Add the Description used by supported page layouts.
  4. Choose the Type.
  5. Decide whether to tick Show hero and Show header.
⚠️
Warning

Use a short URL with lowercase words. Changing a published URL can break existing links.

The title is the name people read. The URL slug is the part used in the page’s address, such as about-us. The field shows the start of the public address and, in grey, a slug made from the title. If you leave the field empty, JORD creates the slug from the title when you save. Use the field’s Copy icon to copy the public address and Open to open it. Do not paste an admin editing address into the field.

Choose Generic when you want to arrange your own sections. Choose List when the page’s main job is to show matching content records. Do not change the type of an existing page just to try another layout. First check what content it already contains.

Configure the hero

Tick Show hero to show the Hero area. Then add its title, description, calls to action, and images.

  • Title and Description introduce the page.
  • 1st button and 2nd button each have a caption and a link.
  • Image (desktop version) and Image (mobile version) set the pictures.

Use a dedicated mobile image when the desktop crop hides important content on a narrow screen.

The hero is the prominent introduction at the top of a page. Its title and description belong to that introduction. A call to action is a button or link with a visible caption and a destination, such as “View services” leading to your services page.

If you have filled in the hero but cannot see it, check that Show hero is ticked. If the top of the page repeats the same title twice, check Show hero and Show header rather than deleting the page title.

Build a generic page

A Generic page uses ordered sections. Add and arrange them in the Sections area.

See the Section editor for section types and controls.

For a first About page, add a Content section, then a Heading and Text block inside it. Add Image and text if you want a photo beside another short message. Save the page after filling in and arranging the sections.

Build a list page

A List page displays records selected by a query.

  1. Choose the Content type, such as articles, events, or references.
  2. Optionally add tags in Filter by tag.
  3. Choose the Ordering and Order direction.
  4. Set the Item count.
  5. Save and review the public result.

The content type is the kind of content to show. The tag filter narrows it, for example to one category’s tag. Ordering offers By creation and By update, plus By publication for articles and By order field for references and services. Order direction is Ascending or Descending. Item count limits how many items the listing requests.

If the result is empty, check that matching records exist and are published in the intended language. Then check the tag filter. Adding text to the page description does not create items for a list.

Copy and publish

Use Copy to start from an existing page. Copy opens a new, unsaved draft in the editor with the same content. It adds the word “copy”, in the content’s language, to the title and clears the URL. Nothing is stored until you select Save.

  1. Open the page you want to copy and select Copy.
  2. Change the title and set a new URL, or leave the URL empty to create one from the new title.
  3. Review the sections, hero, and SEO fields.
  4. Select Save. Select Publish only when the copy is ready.

Pages have no Preview or Schedule action. A public page shows Unpublish instead of Publish.

See Saving, publishing, and SEO for the shared workflow. Pages also have Exclude from sitemap.xml in their SEO fields.

Help visitors find the page

Publishing a page and adding it to the main menu are separate tasks. After the page is ready, add its link under Appearance > Navigation, or link to it from an existing page.

Open that public link to check the finished result. An admin address containing /page/ is an editing address, not the link visitors need. Check the page on a phone and test its buttons before sharing it.

  • The page has a title and the intended URL.
  • Show hero and Show header match the design you want.
  • The page is published and opens at its public address.
