Lists and edit forms

Most JORD content types use a list page followed by an edit form.

The list helps you find the right item. The edit form lets you change it. For example, Content > Articles shows all articles, while opening one article shows its title, images, text, and save controls.

Make one ordinary correction

  1. Open the relevant content list from the admin menu.
  2. Search for part of the item’s title. Clear old filters if it does not appear.
  3. Select the item’s title to open it, then check its title and content language.
  4. Change the field or content block that contains the mistake.
  5. Select Save at the bottom of the form and wait for the confirmation notification, such as Saved.
  6. Check the public result, including whether a publication action is needed. On a public article, Save stores a draft and you must also select Publish. See Saving, publishing, and SEO.

You do not need to create another item to correct an existing one. If a field contains a selected record, such as a related service, edit that original record to change its own title or image.

Work with a list

A list header names the content type and may contain an add button named after it, such as Add article. Each row identifies one item and shows the fields needed to distinguish it, such as categories and the last update date.

The first column shows the publication state as a small indicator without text:

IndicatorState
TickPublic
ClockScheduled: public from a future date
PlainDraft

Long lists load more rows as you scroll down.

Search and filter

Available filters depend on the list. You may be able to filter by:

  • title or name, using the Filter by title or Filter by name box;
  • publication State: All, Public, or Draft;
  • page Type;
  • Category;
  • Author;
  • event series, in the events list.

The text filter starts working after you type at least two characters. Scheduled items count as Public in the state filter.

An empty list shows a message such as You have not added any articles yet!, which means no items exist yet. A message such as No article matches the search! means the current filters hide every item. Clear or change the filters before adding duplicate content.

Filters work together. A matching title may still be hidden because the state filter is set to Draft and the item is Public. Clear the title search and other selected filters when you need to check the whole list. Filtering changes what you see in the admin, not what visitors see on the website.

The list keeps your filters in the page address. If you return to a list and an item seems to be missing, check the filters before assuming it was deleted.

Open, add, and delete items

  • Select an item’s title to open its edit form.
  • Select the add button in the list header to create an item.
  • Use a row’s Delete icon only after checking the title and content type. The admin asks you to confirm.

Actions vary by content type and role. If an expected action is missing, check your roles and the site’s features.

Complete an edit form

Required fields must have a value before the form can save. Field hints below a field explain accepted content or a field’s public use.

If saving fails, the admin shows an error notification that names the field, such as Field required: Title. Read the notification, correct the named field, and save again. The form may need an image, date, or selection as well as text. Do not leave the screen while an error remains and assume that the other changes were saved.

Common field types include:

FieldHow to use it
ImageSelect the field to open the Media library, then choose an image. Add alternative text where the editor provides it.
FileSelect an uploaded file. Check that visitors should be able to download it.
TagSelect existing values or enter free tags when the field allows them.
LinkChoose an internal target or enter an external URL. Test it after saving.
Date and timeType the value or pick it from the calendar pop-up. Use the website’s intended timezone. Check start and end values together.

Editors with repeated items provide Up and Down arrows to move an item, a button such as Add link to add another, and a Delete icon to remove one. The order in the form usually matches the public order.

For an image or file selector, choose an existing upload or upload a new file and wait for it to finish. Selecting media here is separate from saving the whole form. See Media library.

For an internal link, choose the public content destination. An address used to edit an item in the admin is not a visitor link. For an external link, use the full website address and open it to check the destination.

Confirm destructive actions

⚠️
Warning

Deleting a whole content record opens Confirm deletion, which warns that the action cannot be undone. Removing a section or a tab inside a page also asks for confirmation. Removing a content block or another repeated item, such as a gallery image, link, or benchmark, happens at once without a question. Read the control’s tooltip before using it.

Read the item name and action before confirming. A deleted record may disappear from the public website and from links that refer to it.

Removals inside a form, such as a deleted section or block, are stored with the rest of the form when you save it.

💡
Tip

Choose Unpublish, where available, if you only need to take public content offline while keeping the record. Choose the move controls if you only need another position. Neither task requires deletion.

If you cannot finish the edit

If an action is missing, note the content type, item title, and action you expected. Ask the website administrator to check your role and the enabled feature. Do not change user permissions just to reveal a button.

If saving shows an error, keep the form open and record the error text. Preserve any long unsaved text in an approved private place before reloading. Do not repeatedly select the add button or Copy after a failed save.

Check your work

  • The intended item is open.
  • Required fields are complete.
  • Links, dates, and media are correct.
  • Repeated items are in the intended order.
  • The form saved without an error notification.
